Abstract

This paper describes the therapeutic implications of a structural approach as theorized by Minuchin (1976) applied, as a specific reading of the broader systemic-relationship orientation, to the case of a self-injurious adolescent. The red thread of the entire process was the work of defining the boundary, understood as the rule that presides over the passage of information. In fact, the individual psychotherapy course, initiated with the patient, has made it possible to redefine the boundaries between subsystems and properly reposition each component in the role and function it should play within the family system.
